Win•dows (windoze), Trademark.
any of several microcomputer operating systems or environments
featuring a graphical user interface.

Probably
the greatest desire that is common to mankind in general
and computer-literates like us =:) in particular is
freeeeeedom . I mean, if God meant for us to
be tied down and limited, why on earth did He make us
with the knowledge of a difference? Makes sense, hmmm?
And before you step up on that soapbox over there, yes--I
know that Win98 has come quite a ways in allowing you
to change the way your computer operates. But come on.
There's still only so far you can go. No matter what
you do, your computer will never look like this.

And that's just one of the examples
of what you can make your computer act and feel like
with Linux. And this is all possible because of the
(also free) XFree86 implementation of the X11R6 Windowing
System. And yes, I'm sure that it's not called 'Xwindows.'
RTFM. =:) There are many more flamboyant examples
of what you can make your computer do (all free!)
--probably one of the best resources for discovering
some of the options available to you with Linux/X11R6
are to be found at themes.org and its child-pages. You really should
look into some of the other options available to you,
before you go back to looking at that boring old Microsoft
interface that you have to stare at day in and day out--without
really being able to control how it looks. Oh
yeah, and did I mention that it's all free!?! (Do
you sense a common theme here? =:)
